In last week's post, I shared how unsettling it has been to be a veteran teacher yet feel like a newbie. Much like with student teaching, graduate school didn't totally prepare me for the role of an Instructional Technology Facilitator. So, over these past few years, I have taken it upon myself to seek out professional development opportunities in an effort to increase my hands-on experience and learn as much as possible. I've attended North Carolina Technology In Education Society (NCTies) conference several times, applied and was accepted to North Carolina Digital Leadership Coaching Network (NCDLCN), successfully completed Google Certified Educator Level 1 & 2 exams, participated in Badge Your Classroom with Christopher Tucker, and expanded my Professional Learning Network via Twitter. In addition, I've presented sessions at NCTies as well as our district wide summer conference. To some that may sound like a lot. However, I work in a department full of accomplished ITFs so when one of them recommended me to be the team leader at an upcoming district meeting, I suddenly realized my hard work has started to pay off. |

Hi Yvette! I felt the same way when I transitioned from a Grade 5 teacher to a Learning Coach! I thought that I always had to be the "expert," but I've realized that it's OK to learn with teachers and show them that you are learning and growing along with them! It sounds like you have done a lot of great professional learning! I look forward to continuing to learn with you as Blogging Buddies!
