Creativity involves producing a new or original work. Thinking creatively involves students using a wide range of idea creation techniques as well as the ability to analyze and evaluate their own ideas. Working creatively with others involves the ability to communicate new ideas, an openness to different perspectives, and the willingness to view failure as an opportunity to learn.
Communication
To communicate clearly, students must be able to articulate thoughts and ideas effectively, listen effectively, and utilize multiple media and technologies. In addition, students must use communication for a variety of purposes as well as in different environments.
Critical Thinking
Critical thinking includes inductive as well as deductive reasoning. Students engage in activities that require them to analyze and evaluate evidence and alternate points of view. In addition, students synthesize information, draw conclusions, and reflect on learning experiences.
Collaboration
Components of effective collaboration include the ability of all group members to work effectively within the team, be flexible in making compromises while attempting to reach a common goal, and assume responsibility for collaborative work.
